Metal outdoor patio table materials

Metal patio tables here use aluminum, steel or iron frames. Aluminum is light and does not rust, while steel and iron are heavier and steadier in wind. Tops are metal, sintered stone over a cast iron or aluminum base, or solid acacia over a black or gray metal frame, some of it in a teak finish. There is also a brown resin wicker table on an iron frame.

Round metal patio table and square tables

Round tables run from a 26.8 inch bistro size to 53 inches across, and square tables from 27.6 to 44.2 inches. A 30 to 40 inch table seats two to four, and a 47 to 53 inch round seats four to six. Many have an umbrella hole, and several aluminum tables are rated for 160 pounds on top.

Black metal patio table sizes for dining

Rectangular and oval tables run 55 to 81.9 inches long, and extendable tables open as far as 106.3 inches to seat a crowd. Two picnic tables come with attached seating. Black is the most common finish, alongside white, gray, brown, bronze, yellow and natural. Dining heights run about 25.6 to 31 inches, and four bar tables stand 39 to 41.7 inches tall, including a 76 inch bar table with storage.

Small metal patio table and metal folding patio table options

For a balcony, the small aluminum rounds and a 27.6 inch folding square bistro table take little space. Two 70 inch steel and iron tables also fold flat for storage. To keep any metal table looking good, wash it with mild soapy water, dry it, touch up chips in the finish before rust can start, and cover or store it in winter.

Frequently asked questions

Do metal patio tables get hot?
Metal patio tables can get hot in direct summer sun, especially dark finishes. An umbrella helps, and many tables here have an umbrella hole. Tops in sintered stone or solid acacia stay more comfortable to the touch than bare metal, and lighter finishes such as white or natural absorb less heat than black.
How do you clean a metal patio table?
Clean a metal patio table with warm water and mild dish soap on a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse and dry it. Avoid steel wool and abrasive cleaners that scratch the finish. Wipe sintered stone tops with the same soapy water, and wipe acacia tops with the grain.
How do you protect a metal patio table from rust?
Protect a metal patio table from rust by keeping the finish intact: touch up chips and scratches quickly, dry the table after rain when you can, and cover or store it in winter. Aluminum does not rust, so it needs the least care, while steel and iron frames benefit most from a cover.
What size umbrella do you need for a patio table?
Choose an umbrella about 5 feet wider than the table so it shades the people sitting around it. A 30 to 40 inch table suits a 6 to 7.5 foot umbrella, a 47 to 53 inch round suits about 9 feet, and a 70 inch or longer table needs 10 feet or a rectangular umbrella.
How tall is a patio table?
A patio dining table is usually 28 to 30 inches tall, and a bar height patio table is about 40 to 42 inches. The metal dining tables here run about 25.6 to 31 inches tall, and the bar tables stand 39 to 41.7 inches, made for bar stools rather than dining chairs.
How much space do you need for a patio table and chairs?
Allow about 3 feet of clear space on every side of a patio table so chairs can pull out and people can walk behind them. A 30 inch bistro table needs roughly 7 by 7 feet, a 47 inch round about 10 by 10 feet, and a 70 inch rectangle about 12 by 9 feet.
