Small round coffee table sizes

Most models here are a small round coffee table, since a round top has no corners to bump in a tight room and reaches every seat evenly. Widths run 20.1 to 32 inches, depths 17.5 to 32 inches and heights 10.3 to 23.6 inches, with oval, square and rectangular models too.

Check the height against your seat. A table level with the seat or an inch or two lower is easiest to use, low tables suit deep, low sofas, and taller models sit better with higher seats.

Choosing a coffee table for small living room layouts

A coffee table for a small living room should be about half to two-thirds the length of the sofa and leave clear space to walk around it. Keep about 18 inches between the table and the seat front, and around 30 inches for main walkways where you can.

In a very tight room, a round table in front of a loveseat or between two chairs often works better than a long rectangle, and it leaves room to walk between the table and each chair.

Small coffee table with storage

Some models are a small coffee table with storage, using drawers, shelves, doors or a lift-top to keep remotes, chargers and throws out of sight. In a small room, closed storage does a lot to keep surfaces clear.

Select models are nesting sets that spread out when guests visit, select models have a swivel design, and select sets include an ottoman for spare seating.

Small wood coffee table and other materials

A small wood coffee table here is most often built from MDF panels in a walnut, natural or black finish. Some models combine solid wood with MDF, and select models are solid oak, solid acacia or solid pine.

Other materials include marble, sintered stone, tempered glass, rattan and fiberglass. A glass top keeps a small room looking open, while stone and marble add weight and contrast, and marble needs coasters because it can stain.

Frequently asked questions

What size coffee table is best for a small living room?
For a small living room, choose a coffee table about half to two-thirds the length of the sofa, and one that leaves about 18 inches to the seat and clear walkways around it. Round tables around 30 inches across suit many loveseats and small sofas. Small coffee tables here run 20.1 to 32 inches wide.
Is my coffee table too small?
Your coffee table may be too small if it is less than about half the length of your sofa, if people cannot reach it from their seats, or if it looks lost in the rug and seating group. A table that is too small can often be fixed by adding a second small table or a nesting set beside it.
How do you style a small coffee table?
Style a small coffee table with fewer, smaller pieces: one tray or a low bowl, a short stack of books and a single plant or candle is plenty. Keep at least half the top open for drinks and remotes. If the table has storage, keep extra books and coasters below so the surface stays calm.
What material is best for a small round coffee table?
The best material for a small round coffee table depends on the room. Glass keeps a tight space looking open, sintered stone resists scratches and heat for busy households, and wood finishes add warmth. Marble looks refined but needs coasters. Small round coffee tables here come in wood finishes, glass, marble, sintered stone and rattan.
Does a small living room need a coffee table?
A small living room does not strictly need a coffee table, but most rooms work better with a surface in reach of the sofa for drinks, remotes and books. A small round table, a nesting set that tucks away, or a table with storage gives that surface without crowding the floor.
