Adjustable Bar Stools That Raise Counter to Bar

An adjustable bar stool uses a gas-lift cylinder to raise and lower the seat, so one stool fits a counter and a bar — useful if your heights vary or you are not sure which you need. The lever under the seat drops it to counter height (about 24 in) and lifts it toward bar height (about 30 in).

Nearly all adjustable stools also swivel a full 360 degrees, and most have an upholstered or vegan-leather seat with a footrest ring and a chrome or black base.

Sold in sets of 2 from $185. If you want a fixed height instead, our counter-height and bar-height stools cover a 36-inch counter and a 42-inch bar respectively.

Frequently asked questions

How tall are counter-height stools?
Counter-height stools have a seat about 24 to 27 inches high, sized for a standard 36-inch kitchen counter or island. Leave roughly 9 to 12 inches between the seat and the counter underside.
How tall are bar-height stools?
Bar-height stools have a seat about 29 to 31 inches high, sized for a 40 to 42-inch bar. Each product page lists the exact seat height so you can match your counter.
What is the difference between bar stools and counter stools?
It is the seat height. Counter stools (24 to 27 in) suit a 36-inch counter; bar stools (29 to 31 in) suit a 40 to 42-inch bar. Measure from the floor to the underside of your counter, then subtract about 10 inches.
How do I measure for stools?
Measure from the floor to the top of the counter, subtract about 10 inches for legroom, and match that to the seat height. Allow 26 to 30 inches of counter width per stool so they sit side by side.
Do the stools come in sets?
Most are sold in sets of 2, and some in sets of 4. The quantity per box is listed on each product page.
How fast is delivery?
Every set ships free and arrives in 5 to 7 days, flat-packed with assembly hardware.
How much do adjustable stools raise?
The gas-lift typically spans roughly 24 to 30 inches at the seat, covering counter through bar height. The exact range is on each product page.
Do adjustable bar stools swivel?
Most do — a 360-degree swivel is standard on gas-lift stools. The product page confirms it.
