Deep Seat Sofas

Deep seat sofa depth and how it sits

A deep seat sofa gives more room from the front edge of the cushion to the back, so you can tuck your legs up or lie back and lounge. Standard sofa seats are around 21 inches deep, and deep seat designs go further.

Overall depths here run 30.5 to 87.8 inches, with the largest figures on sectionals. Overall depth includes the back cushions and frame, so check the seat depth too where the listing gives it.

Deep seated sofa comfort and back support

A deep seated sofa suits people who lounge, nap or sit cross-legged, while shorter people may find their feet leave the floor when sitting upright. Firm throw pillows behind the back bring the backrest forward when you want to sit up straight.

Seat height matters too. Where listed, seat heights here run 15.8 to 21.7 inches, and a lower seat paired with a deep cushion feels more relaxed.

Deep seat sectional sofa layouts

A deep seat sectional sofa adds a corner or chaise so more people can stretch out at once. Some models here are L-shaped or U-shaped, some include a chaise or an ottoman, and some are modular, with sections that can be rearranged as the room changes.

Select models need no assembly, and select models are sleeper sofas that open to a king size bed.

Deep seat sofas in corduroy, chenille and velvet

Most deep seat sofas here are upholstered in corduroy, a soft ribbed fabric with a relaxed, casual look. Chenille, velvet, linen and sherpa appear on some models.

Black, green, gray and brown are the most common colors, with blue, beige, pink, cream, white and orange also available.

Deep seating sofa construction and care

A deep seating sofa carries more cushion, so frame and fill matter. Some models list solid wood or solid pine, sometimes with plywood panels or a metal frame, so check each listing's construction line.

Fluff and rotate loose cushions every week or two to keep deep seats even, vacuum corduroy along the ribs with an upholstery attachment, and follow the care label for spills.
